Notes: Must have experience operating floor scrubber machines and cleaning equipment for FNS department areas (floors, drains, and all food service areas).
Position Summary
The Dishwasher supports the Food & Nutrition Services (FNS) department by ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of dishes, equipment, and service areas. The primary work assignment will be in the dish room, with occasional responsibilities in retail, production, or catering areas. Duties include general clean-up, dishwashing, trayline assistance, transporting food to service areas, and trash removal. The Dishwasher is expected to follow instructions carefully, uphold high standards of service and quality, and help prevent waste by adhering to chemical handling guidelines and reporting improper use.
Key Responsibilities
Perform dishwashing and sanitation duties in the dish room.
Assist in cleaning floors, drains, and food service areas using floor scrubber machines and other cleaning equipment.
Support trayline operations and transport food to designated service areas.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and equipment.
Remove trash and follow proper waste-handling procedures.
Follow established standards for chemical use and report misuse to the supervisor.
Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and proper body mechanics standards.
Maintain a positive and cooperative working environment.
Required Skills & Experience
Ability to speak, read, and follow verbal directions in English.
Experience using floor scrubber machines and cleaning equipment.
Ability to work well with others and perform a variety of tasks under supervision.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Previous customer service and/or food service experience.
Ability to perform simple calculations manually or using a calculator.
Basic knowledge of food production and service operations.
Ability to delegate tasks and support efficient workflow.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Good organizational skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Understanding of safety measures, proper body mechanics, and infection control practices.
