Job Description:
The Testing Technician is responsible for creating formulations on the benchtop, brewing using Keurig Brewers, and evaluating both prebrew and finished beverages through analytical and sensory testing. This role supports product development, quality evaluation, and data reporting through hands-on lab work and strong documentation practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare benchtop formulations, including accurately measuring and weighing ingredients, blending, and packing into single-serve portions.
• Brew samples using Keurig Brewers and conduct testing on formulations both prior to brewing and on finished beverages.
• Perform analytical and sensory analysis on samples in accordance with established methods.
• Label, organize, and place samples into appropriate storage for shelf-life testing.
• Maintain detailed documentation of incoming samples, prepared samples, samples in shelf life programs, and all associated test results.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations to scale formulas and determine quantities for batch sizing.
• Prepare samples for scientists and business partners to taste, ensuring a clean presentation and demonstrating professionalism, confidence, and courtesy.
• Record, organize, filter, and analyze quality and test data using appropriate computer tools and spreadsheets; report findings to management.
• Search internal database systems, compile data, and export reports to support testing, tracking, and decision-making activities.
• Filter, sort, and manipulate Excel data to identify trends, summarize results, and support reporting requirements.
• Provide training, as needed, to new permanent and temporary personnel on proper testing techniques, methods, and data-recording standards.
• Troubleshoot issues related to brewers, formulations, or unexpected sample behavior, including performing root cause analysis and recommending corrective actions.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Sciences, with Food Science or Engineering preferred.
• Relevant experience in the Food and Beverage Industry. Experience with Coffee and Coffee Beverages is a plus.
• Basic understanding of Good Lab and Manufacturing Practices, and Food Safety Regulatory Standards.
